Michelle Obama visits Miami to promote fitness
First Lady Michelle
Obama stopped at a Miami rec center Tuesday to continue her fight
against childhood obesity by ensuring that children are staying healthy
throughout their day, including after the school bell rings. She
announced that two of the nation's largest after-school providers, Boys
& Girls Clubs of America and the National Recreation and Park
Association, have committed to creating healthier environments for five
million kids in their programs. Nearly 5,400 clubs and sites will serve a
fruit or vegetable at each meal or snack along with healthier drink
options including lower fat milk and water, ensure kids get 30 to 60
minutes of physical activity each day and educate kids about the
importance of staying active.NBC's

Alec Baldwin Says Goodbye To Public Life & Gives His Opinion on Shia LaBeouf in New York Magazine
Alec Baldwin Says Goodbye To Public Life & Gives His Opinion on Shia LaBeouf in New York Magazine
In the latest issue of New York Magazine, the “30 Rock” star opened up about everything including his side of the infamous altercation that led to his MSNBC termination and plans for his new life away from the spotlight.
Highlights from Mr. Baldwin’s letter are as follows. For more, be sure to visit New York Magazine!
On homosexuals:
“I find myself bitter, defensive, and more misanthropic than I care to admit. And I’m trying to understand what happened, now an altercation on the street, in which I was accused -wrongly – of using a gay slur, could have cascaded like this. There’s been a shift in my life. And it’s cause me to step back and say, ‘This is happening for a reason.’ Am I a homophobe? Look, I work in show business. I am awash in gay people, as colleagues and as friends. I’m doing ‘Rock of Ages’ one day, making out with Russell Brand. Soon after that, I’m advocating with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Cynthia Nixon for marriage equality. I’m officiating at a gay friend’s wedding. I’m not a homophobic person at all. But this is how the world now sees me.”
On his termination from MSNBC:
“Once they fired me, a former MSNBC employee I knew emailed me. He said, ‘You watch now, Phil [Griffin] is going to start leaking left and right to bury you.’ When I left, ‘Page Six’ was flooded with lies about me. Another source told me, ‘You know who’s going to get you fired, don’t you? Rachel. Phil will whatever Rachel Maddow tells him to do. I think Rachel is quite good at what she does. I also think she’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”
On New York:
“I just can’t live in New York anymore. Everything I hated about L.A. I’m beginning to crave… I want my newest child to have as normal and decent a life as I can provide. New York doesn’t seem the place for that anymore. L.A. is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed. It’s goodbye to public life. I’ve lived this for 30 years, I’m down with it.”
On Shia LaBeouf:
“[LaBeouf] seems to carry with me, to put it mildly, a jailhouse mentality wherever he goes. I’d heard from other people that he was potentially very difficult to work with, but I always ignore that because people say the same thing about me. When he showed up, he seemed like a lot of young actors today – scattered, as he was coming from making six movies in a row or whatever. He had that card, that card you get when you make films that make a lot of money that gives you a certain kind of entitlement. I think he was surprised that it didn’t work in the theater.”

Kanye West Steps out for a Top Coat Trip
Kanye West Steps out for a Top Coat Trip
Looking professional in conservative attire, the “Bound 2″ singer sported a long velvety jacket and sweater over a light blue button down and skinnies, completing his look with a pair of brown high-tops.
In related news, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” series has
come under fire for playing around the scenes of the 36-year-old’s
proposal to fiancee, Kim Kardashian.
Radar Online alleged that the 33-year-old starlet actually wore her engagement ring on the show before the episode in which Kim accepted Kanye’s proposal in San Francisco.
The site managed to pinpoint a scene in which Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian were talking about Kim using a code name as she tidied away her daughter’s clothes. Comments about the accusations have not yet been released from the Kardasians’ representative.

Back in land of the living
Back in land of the living
ONCE upon a time seeing Chris Cheney from The Living End face first on the floor would have required serious alcohol.
“Doing yoga daily keeps me sane, keeps me away from the bottle, keeps my head clear and keeps me balanced,” Cheney says. “It really is a lifeline for me, If I stopped doing it I’d end up in all kinds of trouble.”
Cheney is taking a similarly namaste approach to The Living End, the rock trio who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year and have outlasted Silverchair, Powderfinger and Grinspoon.
After a retrospective tour in 2012 they’re on a recording hiatus while Cheney makes a solo album, but still play sporadic live shows.
The next is joining the Soundwave festival, after Stone Temple Pilots cancelled.
“They called and we jumped,” Cheney says.
Cheney flew home for rehearsals with band mates Scott Owen and Andy Strachan, which didn’t last long.
“We put a set together, ran through it, then we were off to the pub,” he says. “It’s just good to catch up with each other. There’s no politics in this band any more. We’ve been there and done all that. Now we’re three old friends who just talk about anything other than music.
“I’m glad we’ve made it. We didn’t combust. With any band who’s toured as much as we have, it could have happened at any moment. And kinda did happen, back in the day, but now there’s a zen about The Living End that wasn’t there 10 years ago. ”
Inspired by the retrospective tour, where they played their six albums in full, they’ve added Roll On’s Killing the Right and Modern Artillery’s Hold Up to their Soundwave setlist.
“Hold Up is a blistering metal-influenced tune we wouldn’t normally play but if we’re going to be in hard-rock, punk-rock land we’ve got to step into the ring,” Cheney says.
“We’re obviously going to play the usual songs as well but it’s about getting out of the comfort zone. We’ve never backed ourselves, it was always ‘if we play track five from an album, only a few hundred people will know it’. That doesn’t matter if it’s a good song. It’s a danger to get stuck in a rut. No one wants that.”
While there’s a zen around the band off stage, they remain majorly un-zen on stage.
“It’s full throttle,” Cheney says. “We did Queenscliff Music Festival a few months ago and it was one of the best shows we’ve ever done. Because we’re not playing every weekend there’s this hunger. There’s a different kind of nerves, it feels a bit foreign, a few days before a show I’m like ‘How does this song start again?’ It makes for such a better gig when you feel a bit unsure of how it goes.”
Cheney will release his solo album later this year; one track features an orchestra.
“It doesn’t sound like The Living End,” Cheney says. “I spend every day churning out songs, experimenting, figuring out what I want it to be. I’m feeling really inspired.”

Victoria Justice: 21st Birthday Fun in WeHo
Victoria Justice: 21st Birthday Fun in WeHo
The finally-legal “Victorious” hottie hung out with her boyfriend Pierson Fode and sister Madison at Hooray Henry’s Nightclub for some drinks and dancing.
And Victoria came dressed to impress in a sleeveless black blouse
with skinny jeans and knee-high black boots as she smiled for the
shutterbugs.
During the course of the evening, Ms. Justice took to her Twitter account to let her fans know she was having a blast- “I don’t know about you… But I’m feelin’ 21,” (an obvious Taylor Swift reference).

Models mystified at INXS slight
Models mystified at INXS slight
But the Models are “pissed off” about their mention in the Never Tear Us Apart TV biopic.Drummer Barton Price and supporters of the band took issue with a comment made by Murphy’s character in a scene when he was revving INXS up about focusing on international success rather than staying in Australia.
After a week of stewing about the sledge, Price hit back on social media on the weekend.
‘The suggestion was that by INXS attempting to break internationally they were different and superior to us: ‘…or you can come back here and be the Radiators or the Models’,” Price said, quoting the line used by Murphy’s character.
“What the! We spent a lot of time and effort working internationally and entered the American top 40.
“But the biggest irony is that Chris Murphy, the very same character using us as a negative benchmark in the INXS soap opera, was our manager for that entire period. He was the very person directing our international efforts!”
The bands crossed paths throughout their careers, notably as part of the cast of the Australian Made concerts, a festival of local acts including INXS, Models, Jimmy Barnes, Divinyls and more which travelled the country in 1987.
Price said the comment was set in 1982 in the show and while they would not tour the US for a few years after that, they were already in discussions with American labels and had recorded and played in the UK at the time.
The photo of the band on their Wikipedia page shows frontman Sean Kelly during a gig in San Francisco in 1986.
“Let’s not forget Models and INXS paths crossing on numerous occasions in London, New York, or a very memorable dinner in Milwaukee,” Price said.
“Models and INXS did many shows together, we had a lot of laughs, drank more than a few beers, hung out a lot, even played soccer against each other — I thought we were friends.”
Price remains mystified as to why his band were sledged in the series and said every Australian band during the era had their eye on the international prize.
Models, in fact, scored a mention in the Andy Warhol diaries after he had seen the video for their song Evolution.
“So why did they bag us the other night? What was the benefit? Couldn’t they think of another band that actually hadn’t tried to break internationally?” Price said.
“Perhaps that’s the point. INXS weren’t as different as Chris Murphy would like to believe. Yes, they were more successful than the rest of us, but just about every major Australian act of the day had an international deal of some sort, and was doing their best to achieve wider glories.”

Jimmy Fallon Hosts A-List Guests on First “Tonight Show”
Making the point that he was an unlikely choice to replace Jay Leno, Fallon declared, “To my buddy who said that I’d never be the host of ‘The Tonight Show,’ and you know who you are, you owe me a hundred bucks, buddy!”
Additionally, Jimmy welcomed Will Smith to help him perform the Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing and musical guest U2 performed their new song “Invisible” from the roof of 30 Rockefeller Center.

Hutchence’s final hours revealed
Hutchence’s final hours revealed
More than 16 years after the rock and roll suicide, they have described for the first time the scene inside Hutchence’s room, providing an intimate glimpse into the rock star’s anguished state of mind.
With dark nicotine stains on his fingers and a months-old cigarette burn so deep it exposed the bone, Hutchence’s corpse showed the tell-tale signs of a man bent on destruction.
“The cigarette went right through his fingers and it was sort of infected,” Mr Gerondis said.
There were also signs of a desperate attempt to score drugs. When that failed Hutchence had rifled through the same bin where the song was found for any last dregs of cocaine.

Earthquake rocks SC; local residents report hearing rumbling, no damage
Earthquake rocks SC; local residents report hearing rumbling, no damage
UPDATE 10 a.m. Saturday: Emergency officials say there's
been no damage reported in York County as a result of a small earthquake
that sent tremors as far as Atlanta and Hickory, N.C. on Friday night. Many
local residents did call 911 when the earthquake hit at 10:23 p.m. Some
told emergency operators that they heard an explosion. Others
recognized the activity as an earthquake, said Cotton Howell, director
of York County's emergency management office. From an emergency
management perspective, the small quake was not significant, he said,
but it did give people something to talk about. Friday's tremors
felt in many parts of York County and neighboring Lancaster and Chester
counties are nothing compared to what South Carolina residents felt in
1886 when a "significant" earthquake shook Charleston, Howell said.
Then, "we had church bells ringing and chimneys fall in Rock Hill."The
area felt another "historic earthquake" in 1913 when a quake rattled
Union County and surrounds, he said.Experts
reported that Friday's earthquake, which hit 7 miles west of the town
of Edgefield, was "weak" and caused "no damage," even in localities
closest to the epicenter.
FROM BEFORE: A small earthquake
centered between South Carolina and Georgia sent tremors throughout the
state late Friday night, startling residents in York County, many of
whom reported to emergency officials that they heard "explosions."
Those "explosions" were actually the result of a 4.1 magnitude earthquake that hit 7 miles west of the town of Edgefield, officials said.
The quake at 10:23 p.m. was centered on the edge of Thurmond Lake, just north of the area hardest hit by this week's snow and ice storm.
Tremors were sent throughout the state, shaking Chester, York and Lancaster counties, and going as far to areas in southern North Carolina.
Several residents called in to emergency dispatchers, initially reporting that they heard explosions, said Cotton Howell, director of York County's emergency management office.
The quake, while small, "gets people's attention," he said.
Readers of The Herald reported on social media that they felt the quake in Lesslie, Lake Wylie, Catawba, Rock Hill, York, McConnells, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Chester and Lancaster.
One woman wrote that she her "…cabin shook, roof shook, floor rumbled." A Lancaster County woman said her entertainment center was moved and the glass table in her living room shook so hard it nearly broke.
Melba Carter, who lives in Chester County's Baton Rouge community on the western side of the county, said her entire house shook as she heard a rumbling noise outside. The noise caused her and members of her household to jump into action.
"We looked at each other and went to the door, thinking it was an accident outside," she said.
If so, it would be the area's second on Friday. As snow and ice melted in the aftermath of winter storm Pax, a tractor-trailer truck ran off the road on S.C. 9, rupturing its fuel tank and spilling 125 gallons of fuel into snow runoff that began dripping into a creek. The crash happened near Carter's home.
But Carter quickly realized that the rumbling she heard was not another truck, but tremors from an earthquake in a town about 90 miles away.
"I jumped right on the phone and Facebook," she said. "Everybody I was calling felt it, too.
"Then, I felt better. I didn't want to think I was going crazy."
By early Saturday morning, emergency officials had not received reports of damage or injuries from the quake.
Howell said emergency officials are interested in receiving any reports of damage, such as cracks in walls or broken glass, to pass that information along to geologists. Call 803-326-2300. Emergency officials ask residents not to call to report that they felt tremors, but only if they noticed any damage.

Minaj upsets Malcolm X family
Minaj upsets Malcolm X family
MALCOLM X’s family and estate said Nicki Minaj’s use of a famous photo of the black nationalist with a rifle in his hands and juxtaposing it with a racial slur for her new song’s artwork is disrespectful and offensive.
“Ms. Minaj’s artwork for her single does not depict the truth of Malcolm X’s legacy,” Ms Shabazz’s statement said.
Minaj apologised Thursday. She pulled the artwork after she was criticised on social media platforms for using the photo for the cover of her new male-bashing song, Lookin (Expletive) (Expletive). The title uses the N-word.
Minaj said the single cover was “never the official artwork.”
Mark Roesler, CEO of CMG Worldwide — which is the business representative for the Malcolm X estate — called Minaj’s use of the photo “dehumanising.”
“This is a family photo that was taken out of context in a totally inaccurate and tasteless way,” said his statement on behalf of the family.
“Failure to do so within the next 24 hours shall result in legal action,” said Mr McMillian, who is also the lawyer for Malcolm X’s daughters, Attallah, Qubilah and Gamilah Shabazz. “The initial act and subsequent acts of distribution were improper and ill-advised. Any disparagement, infringement or disrespect of Malcolm X, and his name, image, likeness and proprietary rights will not be tolerated.”
Minaj’s representatives didn’t return emails seeking comment.
Minaj posted the artwork Wednesday on her Instagram page and website. The photo shows Malcolm X holding a rifle as he was trying to protect his family from death threats; his home had been firebombed.
“I apologise to the Malcolm X estate if the meaning of the photo was misconstrued. … I have nothing but respect (and) adoration for u,” Minaj said on her Instagram page following the criticism.

“It was almost parallel in my opinion because he has this big gun ready to shoot at a lookin’ (expletive) bleep, and that’s how I looked at it,” she said. “I looked at it as this is one of the most memorable people in our history, in black history, who voiced his opinion no matter what, and I understand how my intent was overlooked and I definitely didn’t want to offend his family or his legacy.”
In the song’s music video, Minaj is shooting guns.
Ilyasah Shabazz said Minaj’s use of her father’s photo is part of a larger problem in today’s culture.
“Situations like the recent portrayal of our father on the album cover for Ms. Minaj’s new single only highlight the fact that we as a society need to take more responsibility for what we’re teaching our children,” her statement said. “It is our family’s hope that the true legacy and context of Malcolm X’s life continues to be shared with people from all walks of life in a positive manner that helps promote the goals and ideals for which Malcolm X so passionately advocated.”
Malcolm X was assassinated 49 years ago this month at age 39.

Grinning and wearing sunglasses and a dark coat Simon Cowell arrived at Lenox Hill Hospital to evaded questions from the press. When question about Lauren... Simon said: “We’ll find out,” when asked to confirm that Lauren Silverman was about to give birth.
I guess that it will be a Valentine’s Day to remember for Simon and and his socialite girlfriend Lauren Silverman, who may be welcoming their baby boy in the same suite where Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy Carter. Simon rushed to get on his plane to be by Lauren's side.
Lauren is staying in the same exclusive maternity ward where Beyonce Knowles gave birth two years ago to Blue Ivy Carter.

The NFL this morning released its report on the investigation of the Dolphins’ locker-room.
The NFL this morning released its report on the investigation of the Dolphins’ locker-room.
“As all must surely recognize, the NFL is not an ordinary workplace. Professional football is a rough, contact sport played by men of exceptional size, speed, strength and athleticism.
“But even the largest, strongest and fleetest person may be driven to despair by bullying, taunting and constant insults.
“We encourage the creation of new workplace conduct rules and guidelines that will help ensure that players respect each other as professionals and people.”
The NFL this morning released its report on the investigation of the Dolphins’ locker-room.
"After a thorough examination of the facts, we conclude that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman ... and a member of the training staff."
The 140-page report, by independent investigator Ted Well, looked into claims by Jonathan Martin that he was bullied by fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito and others on the team.
Ted Wells wrote that on two occasions in 2013, Martin considered suicide. Ted Wells said that Martin allowed the release of this information.
The report also reveals inappropriate treatment toward another young offensive lineman as well as an assistant trainer.
"We find that the Assistant Trainer repeatedly was targeted with racial slurs and other racially derogatory language. Player A frequently was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching."
"Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."
The report concludes that the NFL needs new guidelines to prevent bullying and harassment of players.

How a Katy Perry visit got a stripper fired
A warning to all the strippers reading this: if an international pop star comes for a visit, don’t take pictures — and DEFINITELY don’t share them online.Katy Perry and her singer-songwriter beau John Mayer dropped into a Spearmint Rhino strip club in Santa Barbra following the Super Bowl on February 3. While there, they reportedly dropped thousands of dollars in cash enjoying the hospitality.
Amid the strip shows, Perry posed for a pic with a few of the ladies who worked at the venue — which one stripper, Cassidy, then posted online for all to see.
Katy, we think it’s time to step in — perhaps Cassidy could be a back-up dancer on your next tour?
